Hill Walking Assessment Day

When young people reach the summit, someone helped them get there.

Hill Walking Assessment Day is for volunteers who are applying for a Hill Walking Permit or renewing an existing permit.

The day provides an opportunity to demonstrate your navigation, route planning, decision-making and group management skills in a hill environment. Assessors will observe your ability to plan and lead safely while considering changing conditions and the needs of the group.

Whether this is your first permit application or a renewal, the assessment is designed to support safe, high-quality hill walking experiences for young people across Scouts NI.
