Scouts NI are in Omagh

Date: 17th Jan 2025 Author: Phoebe McDowell

The Scouts NI Development Team are in Omagh! Over the past few days, we’ve been busy engaging with local schools, spreading the word about the fun, adventure, and skills Scouting offers. We’re excited to have had the opportunity to talk to 450+ young people at St Mary’s Killyclogher and Omagh Integrated Primary School, with more schools getting involved every day.

Our visit didn’t stop there – we’ve also reached out to 8 other local schools, encouraging young people and their families to get involved in Scouting. It’s clear that there’s growing interest, and we’re excited to bring the adventure of Scouting to more young people in Omagh.

What’s Next for Scouting in Omagh?

We want to take this enthusiasm and turn it into action. To do that, we’re hosting an Open Day on Saturday 8th February 2025 at Omagh Scout Hall. This is your chance to come along, try out some fun, free activities, and see what Scouting is all about. We’re looking to hear from as many families as possible, as we hope to start new Scout groups in the area. This Open Day is the perfect opportunity to explore how Scouting can help develop young people, building confidence, teamwork, and #SkillsForLife.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
