Hill Walking Permit Assessment Day

Our Hill Walking Permit Assessment Day gives adult volunteers the opportunity to gain or renew their Hill Walking Permit, supporting the delivery of safe, enjoyable and challenging hillwalking experiences for young people.

Taking place in the Mourne Mountains, the day will assess your ability to plan and lead hillwalks in line with Scouts safety guidance, while building confidence and practical outdoor skills. The event will be split into two sessions: a daytime session from 9:30am–4:30pm, and a low-light session from 6:30–8:30pm.

Whether you’re new to the permit scheme or renewing an existing permit, this assessment is an important step in helping young people explore the outdoors and develop skills for life.
