Young Leader Training Weekend 2024/25

Date: 16th Dec 2024 Author: Phoebe McDowell

27 Young Leaders from across Northern Ireland came together for a fun-filled and action-packed training event at Ardnavally. These incredible Scouts have been developing their leadership skills, completing their modules, and even doing a crash course in first aid!

On Friday evening, they braved the icy weather for a lively campfire, and when the rain took over on Saturday, they kept the spirit alive with an indoor campfire – thanks to a little help from YouTube!

Saturday night brought out the competitive side of everyone with the Big ESYL Quiz. The PlayDoh People round was the hands-down favourite – who knew crafting could be so intense?

And, of course, Leaders Behaving Badly was back! This popular activity pushed our Young Leaders to the test as they had to manage chaos when six members of the NI Youth Team transformed into Beavers & Cubs for 30 minutes of mayhem. From sock-clad puddle-jumping to tree-climbing antics and dramatic hissy fits, the Young Leaders handled it all like pros.

What an amazing weekend of growth and teamwork! These Young Leaders are gaining the skills to make a huge difference in their communities, and we couldn’t be prouder of them!

The Youth team were supported by Pamela and Kelly. A massive thank you to Kayleigh, NI Youth Lead, for organising this event, and to our Youth Leads Adam, Grace, Jack, Finn, and Sasha for attending and helping out.
