Valkyrie Explorers take on Kandersteg

This July, Valkyrie Explorer Scout Unit travelled to Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC) in the heart of the Swiss Alps for an incredible summer adventure.

Staying at Baden-Powell’s famous “permanent mini-Jamboree”, the Explorers camped alongside thousands of Scouts from around the world. Through International Days, culture nights and campfire activities, they made new friendships, shared experiences and learned about different cultures from across the globe.

The trip was packed with opportunities to challenge themselves and try something new. Explorers tackled high-ropes activities, swam in the crystal-clear waters of Oeschinensee, trekked scenic trails around Kandersteg and explored the mountains and glaciers of the Swiss Alps through hiking and climbing activities.

Along the way, they developed confidence, teamwork and independence while gaining practical skills and experiences that will stay with them long after returning home. The expedition also gave them the chance to broaden their horizons, experience international Scouting and create memories that will last a lifetime.

For Valkyrie Explorers, it was an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, make friends from around the world and embrace everything that makes Scouting such a unique global movement.
