The Blair Atholl adventure is under way

Six Explorer Scouts from Northern Ireland have arrived at Blair Atholl for the 40th Scottish International Patrol Jamborette.

Over the next 12 days, they’ll be camping as part of a joint patrol with young people from Scotland, taking responsibility for cooking meals on open fires, sleeping in patrol tents, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and working together as a team. They’ll eat around their own pioneered dining area and tackle an exciting programme of activities every day.

One of the unique things about Blair Atholl is that the patrol operates independently, without leaders staying with them. It gives young people the chance to step up, think on their feet, support one another and develop valuable skills for life.

This year, more than 500 Scottish Explorer Scouts will be joined by Scouts from across the world, including Austria, Barbados, Canada, Finland, Germany, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, the USA and Northern Ireland. Along the way, our Explorers will make new friends, learn from different cultures and create memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you goes to Strangford District, who generously funded the hire of the patrol’s kilts. While not all of the Explorers are members of the District, this support has been greatly appreciated by the young people and their families.

We wish the patrol an amazing adventure and can’t wait to hear about their experience when they return.
