St George’s Day Awards Ceremony
Celebrating Our Volunteers
On Saturday 7 June, a very special event took place at Ardnavally Scout Centre to honour local volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their service to Scouts NI.
The St George’s Day Awards Ceremony recognised recipients of the Silver Acorn, Bar to the Silver Acorn, and Silver Wolf – national honours presented to adult volunteers for distinguished and exceptional service to Scouting.
Each nominee was invited to attend the celebration with their guests. As part of the ceremony, recipients were individually called forward while their Regional Lead shared a citation highlighting their Scouting journey, dedication, and the incredible impact they’ve had on young people. Our Chief Volunteer, Stephen Bell, then proudly presented each awardee with their certificate and medal.
This year, the Silver Wolf was also awarded posthumously to the late Len Hall, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Scouting. The award was received on his behalf by his wife, Honor Hall, a touching moment which paid tribute to Len’s lifelong service and commitment to the movement.
After the formal proceedings, everyone came together to enjoy a relaxed lunch and capture memories with photographs in the surroundings of Ardnavally.
These awards are a chance to say a heartfelt thank you to those who dedicate so much of their time and energy to shaping a better future for our young people. Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients – you truly embody our Scouting values.
