Learning About History, Preparing for the Future
Recently, Scouts from 1st Inch have been learning about the past, while Hydra Explorers are preparing for the future.
1st Inch rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in at Ballynoe, joining the Community Archaeology Programme NI for a morning of digging, scraping and discovering. With support from QUB – Archaeology at Queen’s University, they had the chance to explore local history up close and even uncovered a few hidden treasures. It was a proper hands-on adventure!
At the same time, Hydra Explorers have been stepping up as young leaders – building confidence, gaining new skills and supporting others. 4 Explorers recently earned their Young Leader belts and badges after completing their training and leading sessions with younger sections.
And they’re not stopping there. Jack Fry, North Down District Youth Lead, ran an energetic Module A session for 25 new Explorers. With help from older Explorers who’ve already been through it, the next generation of young leaders are now ready to start their own journey.
From exploring the past to leading the way forward – our young people are learning new things, supporting their communities, all while building skills for life.
