Joey’s Big Bike Ride

Date: 20th Jun 2025 Author: Phoebe McDowell

Joey from 76th Belfast Beavers is taking on a mighty challenge – cycling 150 miles to raise money for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

At just 6 years old, Joey has already proven he’s full of determination and compassion. Now, 18 months after his last fundraiser, he’s back on his bike with a brand new goal – to complete the distance before the end of June.

So far, Joey has cycled an amazing 127.8 miles and has just 10 days left to reach the finish line. He’s averaging more than 8 miles a day – through sunny days and wet ones too, and he’s already raised a staggering £1,835, smashing his original £500 target!

This challenge is a brilliant example of how Scouts are ready to help others and build skills for life. Joey is showing resilience, kindness and a real drive to make a difference.

You can follow his progress on Strava and cheer him on as he pedals the final stretch. Every donation, big or small, helps support children and families who need it most.
