Coming Together to Say Thanks
Over 100 volunteers came together at Crawfordsburn Activity Centre for an afternoon of adventure, food, and fun.
There was plenty of time to catch up with friends and make new ones, before getting stuck into some of the adventurous activities Crawfordsburn is known for – all made possible by Ian and the activity team.
We were well looked after on the day too. Thanks to Mark Carson for cooking up a storm and keeping everyone going with his van of hot drinks (those hot chocolates were a big hit!). And a big shout-out to Kieran McEvoy, who was right there in the middle of it all, serving up food with plenty of enthusiasm.
Stephen Bell, our Chief Volunteer, kicked things off with a warm welcome. He thanked everyone for the hard work they put in and reminded us why it matters so much. The time and energy our volunteers give is truly worthy of celebration. Ian Paden, the Operations and Development Manager at Crawfordsburn, kept the energy flowing – setting the tone for an afternoon full of networking and adventure.
We also had a very special moment when Sid Harrison was presented with a gift from Scouts NI, in recognition of his long and dedicated service to Crawfordsburn – as both a staff member and warden. It was fantastic to celebrate Sid and everything he’s given to Scouting over the years. We wish him all the best as he enjoys his retirement and time with his family.
The event was a brilliant reminder of what makes Scouting so special. Until next year!
