Christmas Competition Winners

Date: 19th Dec 2025 Author: Phoebe McDowell

This Christmas, young people from across Scouts NI brought the festive spirit to life with imagination, teamwork and a whole lot of Scouty creativity. Our Christmas Competition gave every section the chance to get stuck in, try something new and share their ideas.

Younger Sections Winner: 30th Belfast Cubs

Our winner for the younger sections (Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs) is 30th Belfast Cubs (Gilnahirk) – and their entry made us smile from the moment we saw it. Rather than using a flat-pack gingerbread house, the Cubs decided to do things the Scout way. They baked their own gingerbread and created Camp Gingerbread, complete with tents (because Cubs live in tents, not houses), chocolate log sleeping bags, a campfire circle and even a flagpole. There was so much attention to detail that they didn’t stop there.

With some gingerbread left over, the Cubs added a bivvy tucked away in the forest and even parked a trailer in the car park. It was creative, thoughtful and full of teamwork – exactly what Scouts is all about! A huge well done to everyone involved at 30th Belfast Cubs.

Older Sections Winner: 109th Belfast Explorers

For the older sections (Scouts, Explorers and Network), the winning design came from Juliet, 109th Belfast. Juliet’s Christmas hoodie design stood out for its warm, comforting feel and its strong Scouty connection. Featuring cosy winter vibes and hot chocolate, it was a design you could genuinely imagine wearing on a cold December evening at camp.

To showcase her work, we used AI to recreate Juliet’s design as a realistic jumper, bringing her idea to life and helping us visualise how it could look when worn. Well done Juliet! Your design was colourful, thoughtful and creative.

Thank you for taking part!

A big thank you to everyone who entered this year’s competition. Whether you were baking, designing, sketching or sharing ideas as a team, every entry showed creativity, confidence and a willingness to give things a go.

Our staff team loved looking through all the photos that were sent in, choosing the winners together and, most importantly, seeing so many young people getting involved and having fun through Scouting.
