Celebrating our Young People: DofE Volunteering
The young people in Scouts NI who have participated in the Bronze, Silver and Gold Sections of the Duke Of Edinburgh Award have contributed 2756 hours of volunteering! This is the equivalent of 114.833 days volunteering between 1st April 2023 and 31st March 2024. The social value of these hours has been calculated as £14,541 of support for local communities.
The CEO of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in the UK, Ruth Marvel, sent a certificate to thank Scouts NI DofE participants for “the dedication, effort and achievement of young people making an impact in their community”. Many of these young people volunteer with a younger Section and pass on their Scouting skills to Squirrels, Cubs and Beavers.
Congratulations! This is a great achievement, and we would like leaders to convey thanks to the young people who help week on week with their group to complete their DofE volunteering section.
