Camp out for Concern

We are proud to announce Camp Out for Concern, an overnight event taking place on 27–28 September 2025 at Crawfordsburn Activity Centre, in partnership with Concern Worldwide.
This unique event invites young people across the movement – from Cubs up to Network – to come together for a night of skills learning, hands-on challenges, and real-life simulations designed to deepen understanding of the global displacement crisis. For those who can’t attend in person, a Virtual Camp at Home option will be available for Squirrels, Beavers, and families.
Why Camp Out for Concern?
Over 123 million people worldwide have been forced to leave their homes due to conflict, disaster, or other crises. These families often face harsh conditions in temporary shelters, displacement camps, or urban areas, confronting hunger, limited access to clean water, and uncertainty about the future.
Camp Out for Concern is more than just an event, it’s an opportunity for Scouts to step into the shoes of displaced families through immersive activities such as:
-
Water filtration challenges, simulating the effort required to find safe drinking water
-
Shelter-building exercises, reflecting the reality of makeshift homes
- Food rationing simulations may also take place, so please ensure you bring enough food for supper and breakfast as needed.
These activities encourage Scouts to develop empathy, resilience, and a sense of global citizenship, inspiring them to be active change-makers in their communities and beyond.
