Awards Presentation 2025

Date: 9th Jan 2025 Author: Phoebe McDowell

We had a fantastic evening at Belfast City Hall celebrating the achievements of our young people at the annual Scouts NI Awards Presentation.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, including the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Micky Murray, who joined us to show their support for Scouting in Northern Ireland. We’re also grateful to Belfast City Hall for hosting such a special event.

Congratulations to all the recipients of the following awards:

  • King’s Scout Award
The highest honour in Scouting, recognising dedication, leadership, and service. This award includes completing challenges like a five-day residential, 24 nights away, and earning the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

  • Chief Scout’s Gold Award
The highest award in the Scout section. To achieve it, Scouts complete nine Challenge Awards, including the Adventure, Personal, and World Challenges, as well as six Activity Badges of their choice.

  • Explorer Belt
An unforgettable adventure that includes a ten-day expedition outside the UK. Teams work together to complete projects and challenges, building independence and teamwork.

  • Scouts of the World Award (SOWA)
This award encourages young adults to take action on global issues like peace, the environment, and sustainability by completing a meaningful project that makes a lasting impact.

Well done to all our young people for their hard work and dedication in achieving these awards. Your commitment is inspiring and shows what’s possible when you embrace adventure and challenge.

A huge thank you to the leaders and parents who support our young people to reach their goals. We’d also like to thank the staff who joined and lent a hand to make the evening such a success, to Pamela Hale for her efforts in organising this event, and to our photographers, Max Graham and Amelia Rodgers.

Photo Gallery Coming Soon: All photographs from the event will be available to access and download soon. Keep an eye out for the gallery, which will be shared on our website and social media channels.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
