A new flexible way to complete First Aid training

Date: 4th Mar 2026 Author: Phoebe McDowell

We’re introducing a new blended first aid training option for volunteers across Scouts NI.

From 9 March, you’ll be able to complete the theory part of your First Aid training online through the Scouts portal. This means you can learn at a time that suits you.

After completing the e-learning, you’ll:

  • Join a trainer-led online session
  • Complete a practical CPR assessment

How it works

  • Complete the First Aid e-learning (available from 9 March on the Scouts Membership System)
  • Attend a trainer-led online session (22 or 29 April, 6.30–10pm)
  • Complete a practical CPR assessment at a local CPR hub

Once all three stages are complete, your First Aid training is signed off.

This blended option gives more flexibility for volunteers who may find it difficult to attend a full-day course. Our full face-to-face First Aid training will still run and remains the recommended route for anyone completing First Aid for the first time.

You can now register for an upcoming session in April on the NI Events Calendar.

If you have any questions, please contact Janine Bowen, NI First Aid Coordinator.
