Scouts NI Awards Presentation

Date: 16th Jan 2026 Author: Phoebe McDowell

Nearly 150 young people from across Northern Ireland were celebrated at our Annual Awards Presentation, held on Friday 9 January 2026 in the iconic surroundings of Belfast City Hall.

The evening brought together young people, families, guests and volunteers to celebrate outstanding achievement, commitment and service through Scouting.

The evening was hosted by Peter Wilson, who guided the programme and introduced each part of the presentation. We opened with a Renewal of Promise led by Stephen Bell, NI Chief Volunteer, setting the tone for the evening.

Young people were recognised for completing some of Scouting’s highest awards, including the Chief Scout’s Gold Award, the Scouts of the World Award, and the King’s Scout Award. Each award represents years of effort, from volunteering in communities, to leading others, to taking on personal challenges and seeing them through.

Presentations were led by Stephen Bell, alongside Lewis Dangerfield, UK Lead Volunteer for Programme, with addresses from The Right Honourable, The Lord Mayor, Tracy Kelly, whose presence helped mark the importance of the achievements being celebrated. Citations for award recipients were read by Michael Morrison and Emma Webster.

The evening also included a video highlighting the Habitat for Humanity Cambodia 2025 project, showcasing how Scouts from NI continue to make a positive impact far beyond their local communities.

A special word of thanks goes to the many volunteers who gave up yet another evening to support the event – welcoming guests, handing certificates, guiding recipients, supporting the programme and helping everything run smoothly! Their commitment behind the scenes made the night possible and ensured every young person felt celebrated.

Thank you to Pamela Hale, who organises the Awards Presentation each year and makes it all happen behind the scenes. Her dedication, organisation and attention to detail play a vital role in bringing it together year after year.

As the evening closed with congratulations and a vote of thanks led by Kayleigh Finlay, NI Youth Lead, the message was clear: these young people have shown what’s possible when you stick at it, give back, and play your part.

Congratulations to every recipient and thank you to the volunteers who support them every step of the way.
