Building Skills for Life by the Sea
All Saints Clooney Cub Pack recently took to the coast for a fun-filled two-day camp in Castlerock – and it was an unforgettable adventure!
The eagerly anticipated camp began with a train journey before the beach became the Cubs’ outdoor classroom. Young people honed their observational skills through scavenger games and built their navigational abilities with practical map work.
A highlight of the weekend was a fascinating session with the RNLI lifeguards. The Cubs discovered more about beach safety, the vital role lifeguards play, and how to enjoy the coast safely.
As evening fell, the traditional campfire brought the group together. Cubs shared songs, laughter, and showcased their creativity with a hilarious sketch show.
Reflecting on the weekend, Carol Mooney, Group Scout Leader, said:
“We adapted our Cub camp under canvas this year and the format in Castlerock was an incredible success. The Cubs absolutely loved the beach, activities and camping. We’re so grateful for the support from 1st Castlerock that made these experiences possible!”
This coastal camp is another example of how Scouting gives young people the chance to build skills for life while enjoying adventure and fun in the outdoors.
