The Cub Football Finals 2025

Date: 3rd Jun 2025 Author: Phoebe McDowell

Cubs from across NI came together recently for the NI Cub Football Finals 2025 – a brilliant day packed with energy, teamwork and fun.

Despite a mix of sunshine and showers, the Cubs gave it their all on the pitch, showing off their football skills while living out the values at the heart of Scouting. There was plenty of friendly competition, but just as much support and encouragement, both on and off the field.

Throughout the day, teams demonstrated great sportsmanship, resilience, and determination. From carefully planned passes to quick saves and last-minute goals, it was clear the Cubs had put in the effort and enjoyed every moment.

Behind the scenes, the event was made possible thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of volunteers. A huge thank you goes to Jean Major, who led the event on behalf of the Cub Core Team, and to Joy G and Ruth, who kept the scores running smoothly throughout the day.

Thanks also to our referees – Colin, Gary and Euan – who helped ensure fair play and kept matches running to time, and to Christine, who supported the event at the results table (and in many other ways too).

We’re grateful to W.J. Scott & Sons for kindly sponsoring water and crisps for the teams – a welcome boost for young players throughout the day.

And a big thank you to Stephanie, and Paul for all the planning and preparation behind the scenes. Their work helped ensure the event ran smoothly from start to finish.

To all the leaders who brought Cubs along and encouraged them from the sidelines, thank you for making it possible.

Finally, well done to every Cub who took part. Your effort and positive attitude were clear to see, and you made the day something really special.
