Beavers 60th Birthday Fun in the Sun @ Crawfordsburn

An exciting  day of activities to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of Beaver Scouts in Northern Ireland at Crawfordsburn Activity Centre in beautifully sunny weather. We had 492 Beavers and 180 leaders/helpers in attendance (672 in total). The Beavers moved around 5 Zones:

Motion – grass sledging, challenge course, inflatable assault course and Beaver Trail,

Skills – crate-stacking, bouldering, soft tomahawk and a kick and stick activity,

Backwoods – cooking hotdogs and wild garlic bread on an open fire,

Craft – making anniversary keyrings, decorating birthday cookies, face painting and balloon modelling,

Fun – African drums and obstacle course.

At lunch  Sean Conway spoke excellently about adventure; cut the anniversary cake with Beavers Harry McFadden and Emer Moore (115th Belfast); presented a gift to Beaver Emma Stevenson (1st Comber) who won the anniversary badge competition; and presented 66 top Chief Scout’s Bronze Awards to Beavers from 15 Colonies.
