🥇Congratulations to Lucas who has completed his Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE using the DofE flexibilities.

Lucas has cerebral palsy and never thought he would be able to participate in the DofE, especially the expedition part of the Award. However, due to our flexibilities and support from Little Deer Wood Activity Centre Lucas has been able to complete all levels! He has been told by lots of people that he is inspirational, and we absolutely agree! 💜

Lucas's mum Gail says:
“The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is definitely accessible to everyone and we are so proud of Lucas achieving his Gold Award!”

🎉Somerset DofE have celebrated the dedication of three DofE Leaders who have recently received long service awards for their support helping young people achieve their DofE. Congratulations and thank you for everything.

Temperatures are set to rise, so here's some reminders for staying safe in the sun whilst you're out and about 👇

👒 Remember to use suncream, hats and sunglasses

⏲ Adjust your schedule by travelling earlier in the morning and later in the day

🚰 Drink plenty of water, and ensure you have stops planned to refill when needed

It’s #FridayRoundup time 👀

🛶Young people from @mgs_1515 did their Gold DofE Canoe Practice Expedition on the River Tweed which spans 97 miles! Well done for your hard work!

🦁 @woodlandsluton have been completing their first fully assessable expedition. They had fun at the zoo, but their challenge was to read the maps and signs to find their way to their favourite animals.

Once back at school they enjoyed a disco in the hydrotherapy pool, made pizza, put their tents up indoors, and settled down to sleep. We hope the students had lots of fun making lasting memories.

💟 A group of young people from the Chalfonts Community College made friendship bracelets and gave them to their team in the morning as they started their expedition weekend. This demonstrated ‘true teamwork, memories and friendships.’

This time last month we were at the Gold Award celebrations and what an amazing two days they were ✨

Congratulations to everyone and thank you to all involved, we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did 🥇

This week we’re celebrating a selection of amazing achievements for our #FridayRoundup 🎉

💜 @somersetdofe celebrate #NationalVolunteersWeek and share stories of both young people and leaders who are volunteering their time!

🌄We’re celebrating DofE supporter @sallyorangembe who has completed her 84th marathon at Everest, whilst raising money for the DofE! Sally ‘shouted from the top of the world about the importance of changing the conversation on mental health.’ Thank you so much Sally, you are an inspiration!

👑 @lancaster.girls.grammar attended the Gold Award Celebration at Buckingham Palace! They said ‘the number of hours that the young people have volunteered for is outstanding. They really do contribute to our community both in school and beyond. However, the biggest reward for any leader is to see them challenge themselves.’

🎉Last night we celebrated the incredible achievements of our DofE Youth Ambassadors in an event which rounded up their year. We are so proud of you and wish you all the best for your future!

This #FridayRoundup we are sharing what our Ambassadors have been up to 👀

Natasha, Luana and Tryphene took part in a panel discussion during the AoC Mental Health & Wellbeing Conference. This was hosted by the Association of Colleges and the Ambassadors shared their experiences of mental health and wellbeing support in Further Education 🎤

Our UK Youth Ambassadors supported at the two Gold Award Celebrations at Buckingham Palace. From running the garden games and taking guest photos, to chaperoning VIPs and our stage speakers, the Youth Ambassadors from past and present helped ensure the events ran smoothly 👑

Finlay and Karolina attended a reception alongside HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at the Palace of Holyrood house. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was appointed by the King as His Majesty’s Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland 🏰

Hannah and Folusho joined colleagues from UK Power Networks for a challenging 20 mile walk from Richmond Park to Potters Field Park who have raised more than £41,729 for the DofE 🌄

Well done everyone! We're so proud of you 💜

#FridayRoundup is back and we’re highlighting four inspirational young people who each gave a speech at Buckingham Palace this week at our Gold Award celebrations.

They confidently spoke about their DofE journeys in front of an audience filled with thousands of people, including HRH The Duke of Edinburgh! This takes courage and they absolutely smashed it!

Here’s a short quote from each of their speeches 🎤

👀 ”Climb that ladder but hold it up for others to climb too. Give back to your community, appreciate those around you, and be the role model for others that you would like to see.” - Ifrah

🏅 “Even if I didn’t realise it at the time, over the course of my DofE, I was growing, learning, and gaining really useful experiences and character.” - Dipesh

📌 “There are going to be times in life when you face challenges – you might go completely off route, get lost or end up in a different place to where you expected. But it doesn’t matter how you got there, as long as you got there!” - Amelia

💜 “I want to give other young people courage, hope and happiness - leading by example. DofE taught me that if the skies get rough, I won’t give up or let my deafness stop me.” - Hafwen
