NIEX

Scouts NI are now open for applications to take part in the 2023 round of NIEX expeditions. Places will be limited in numbers and so early sign-up will be advantageous. In order to participate, you must fulfil the age requirements. You must only sign up if you can attend all training, as well as complete the practice and qualifying expeditions on the dates linked below. Deposits need to be paid at sign-up, and subsequent payments must be on time as indicated in the payment schedule. The signup form is at the bottom of this page.

It should be also noted that refunds can not be given should a participant drop out, as payments for many aspects of the training and expeditions have to be made in advance.

Cost – Cost does not include DofE Registration (Click on the Deposit link to pay after filling in the form below for the expedition you have signed up for.)

Chief Scout’s Diamond / DofE Silver Walking Expedition – Deposit £65 Total Cost £130

King’s Scout / DofE Gold Walking Expedition in N. Ireland – Deposit £75 Total Cost £150

King’s Scout / DofE Gold Walking Expedition outside of NI. – Deposit £225 Estimated Cost £450*

*£450 – there may be a small fluctuation from this estimate. Final cost to be confirmed early Feb 2023

At sign-up, participants will be able to indicate a preference between the Lake District (England), Scottish Highlands or Wicklow Mountains with the majority vote becoming the destination.

The second payment will be taken in February 2023.

Transport – Participants will be expected to be at the designated meeting point for all training and expeditions. For planning and training, this is usually the venue, for expeditions, the meeting point will usually be Ardnavally Scout Centre with minibus transport to and from the expedition venue. For NI expeditions Parental transport may be needed.

Food – with a few exceptions*, all food must be supplied by the individual participants

Ages:

Chief Scout’s Diamond participants must be a minimum of 15 years old on 1^st April 2023.

Kings’s Scout participants must be a minimum of 16 years old on 1^st April 2023.

All Participants must be under 25 years old on 9^th September 2023.
