The Explorer Scout Young Leader Scheme NI

Explorer Scout Young Leaders (ESYLs) are Explorer Scouts who volunteer alongside adult leaders in a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop. They’re a valuable asset to any leadership team and play an active role in the section, bringing a range of fresh ideas to the table and acting as positive role models for the young people they work alongside. The best thing about being a Young Leader within a group is having your voice heard and being able to help lead younger sections to grow and blossom. Below is how the Young Leader Scheme NI is organised.

The Explorer Scout Young Leader Scheme NI is operated at Northern Ireland, County and District Level. To find out more about it in your area make sure to reach out to your Explorer Leader or District Explorer Scout Commissioner (DESC).

So what is it all about? Well at the end of the day once you’ve completed the whole scheme you will have 5 new badges for your uniform, a certificate and a shiny belt buckle.

However, you will also come out with so much more! Once completed you will have gained the skills and confidence to be an effective part of the leadership team within your chosen section. Not to mention the fun and memories you will make on the way.

The Scheme itself is broken down into 12 modules and 4 missions, you can find more about each of them on the following pages.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
