SUMMARY:Additional Needs Training
DESCRIPTION:Come and take part in a full day of practical learning that’ll help you feel more confident supporting young people in Scouting who have additional needs or may present challenging behaviours. This in‑person session\, at only £10 per person\, is open to volunteers at every level\, whether you’re new to inclusive Scouting or looking to build on the skills you already use in your group. \n\nWe’ll explore down‑to‑earth strategies you can put into practice right away\, from building positive relationships to creating environments where every young person feels they belong. You can expect real examples\, relatable insights\, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions. \nFor those who met Colin Millar and Walter Lambe at the Conference\, you’ll know how engaging and practical their sessions are. If you didn’t get to see them\, this is a great opportunity to benefit from their decades of experience in education\, behaviour support and inclusive youth work. \n\n\nColin Millar MBE – SEN & Education Specialist\n\n\nColin has over 30 years’ experience across mainstream and special education\, teaching young people aged 4–18 with a wide range of needs. He has served as a SENCO\, Vice Principal\, Principal\, SEN Adviser and Associate Assessor with the Education and Training Inspectorate. Colin also supports youth organisations as a disability consultant and has published books on effective practice\, wellbeing and mental health. \n\nWalter Lambe MBE – Behaviour & Autism Support Specialist\nWalter brings almost 60 years of youth work experience and 38 years in education\, including 20 years leading Behaviour Support Services for the North Eastern Education and Library Board.
