Stephen Donaldson was appointed as Chief Commissioner for Northern Ireland on 1st September 2016.
Stephen Donaldson took up Leadership as ASL in July 1977 with 2nd Donaghadee. From that position he moved up to SL in the Group in 1984. In January 1990 he took on the role of GSL with the Group until 2005 when he was appointed County Commissioner for County Down, a role he held until 2015. Stephen took an active interest in all the Districts and Groups in Co Down attending District meetings and events whenever possible. As County Commissioner he also managed the amalgamation of Newry District and Banbridge District to form South Down District in 2013, and the amalgamation of Newtownards District and South East Down District to form Strangford District in 2014.
He has been extremely active in promoting Northern Ireland, National and International events and encouraging Scouts to attend major events such as Jamborees. He conducts his Scouting in a very professional manner and is highly respected in Northern Ireland.
Stephen is a dairy farmer and is married to Alison, a Cub Scout Leader. They have three sons also involved in Scouting in Northern Ireland.
